There are two basic betting areas on the table, one for the ante bet and one for the raise bet. The various game buttons are located at the bottom of the screen and the player’s virtual chips located on the bottom right hand side of the screen. In the mobile and online version of the game, the paytable in the top left corner displays the various payouts for each bet.
Placing the Rummy Ante Bet
A game of iPad Vegas three card rummy begins with the player placing the ante bet. This can be done by tapping on the virtual chips and placing then placing them on the ante betting area. Once the ante bet has been placed, players can tap on the deal button and the dealer will deal the player three cards faced up and himself three cards faced down. The aim of Vegas three card rummy is to beat the dealer by having a hand that scores the lowest points possible.
Calculating the Point Score
In iPad Vegas three card rummy each card has a point value. Cards 2-10 are worth their point value while the jack, queen and king are worth 10 points. The ace is worth a single point. When certain combinations are formed, the combination can be worth 0 points. For example, a pair is worth 0 points and any suited combination is also worth 0 points as is a three or a kind. If player has a hand of containing an 8 and two 9’s the score would be 8 as the pair of 9’s would be worth 0 points.
Winning a Hand
In iPad Vegas three card rummy, the game software will automatically determine the number of points in the player’s hand. Once the point number is calculated, the player has the option of folding or raising the bet. If a player has a particularly high scoring hand, they can choose to cut their losses and forfeit their ante bet. However, if a player has a low scoring hand, they can tap on the raise button and continue the game.
The Payouts for the Raise Bet
Once a player has place the raise bet, the dealer will flip over his three cards and reveal his scoring total. In this game, the dealer only qualifies with a score of 20 or less. If the player has a lower scoring hand or if the dealer does not qualify, the player wins the ante bet and the raise bet. If the dealer has a lower scoring hand, the player loses their ante bet and raise bet. The raise bet will pay out 1:1 on any score from 1-19. For a score from 1-5, the raise bet will pay out 2:1. Any total score of 0 will pay out 4:1.
